Steve Cavanaugh is the the heir apparent to Scott Turow & John Grisham, but his protagonist has a sketchy background to draw from. This is a fun quick read, light fodder, well written.

This is my first “real” thriller book, and I thought it was pretty good! Great buildup and the final confrontation was amazing. However, it read as extremely masculine to me. Overly masculine. There were like 20 male characters and only 5 females characters, most were minor characters, or described in an uncomfortable way (specifically Miriam). I had a fairly difficult time remembering who was who.

I enjoyed this but did find it hard to get through. I kept waiting for something thrilling to happen and about halfway through I realized that it was happening, I just wasn't overly impressed. I liked seeing how Eddie's mind worked, etc. but there was one too many convenient coincidences for me to really settle into this book.
