Y’all I sat on this review for a couple days, thinking maybe it would mellow out my opinion on this one. I know everyone says that if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all but this is a book review and that’s not an option.
SO I guess what I’ll say is this was not my favorite. By a long shot. I didn’t think it really did anything well at all. It was repetitive, uninteresting, and failed to live up to the plot on the book jacket. There was no thrill or intrigue or nuance and the romance that ended up taking over the entire storyline was dull and uninspired.

A slow start but really drew me in. This book was really well rounded. I liked the way it portrayed grief, the way we can still be angry and hurt in the sadness of death. Also holy family drama, but the ending was really satisfying. The romance aspect was set more as a subplot, which was nice because I felt like we got to see more of the siblings dynamics and even their point of views at times.
This was a really good read and helped take me out of my slump

Love reading about fucked up rich families with family “games”. Alice Storm is a sympathetic protagonist who manages to be both relatable in her morals and desires while being totally unrelatable due to her über rich upbringing. Her family is a shit show and it’s difficult to like most of them, but seeing them actually grow throughout the week of hell on the island is satisfying.
I won’t say much about the ending, and I can see why some people might not like it, but I found it very fitting for the Storms and their mess. Franklin Storm was an asshole, in life and death, but he can’t stop his family from starting to heal.
