Cute! A little long-winded and laggy in parts but mostly adorable and a rarely enjoyable second chance romance!

Sweet and romantic but a bit less compelling than the first in the series. Eloise was fun and Gabriel was very romantic. But between them there was a bit too much misunderstanding and the middle became tedious. Still overall a good read.

with some of my favorite authors praising india holton's books, i really really hoped i would like this. unfortunately, i think i've come to the conclusion that this style of cozy fantasy is just not for me. the sentences meander, dragging along aimlessly. it read like the author was trying pastiche jane austen's writing, but without any of the intelligent, sharp commentary austen injected throughout her books. the magical scenarios and worldbuilding were likewise nonsensical and threadbare -- it felt like a complete contrivance for the sake of a "whimsical" plot.
that all sounds very harsh, but honestly, i just think these sorts of books aren't for me (see also: emily wilde). if you are a reader that enjoys this writing style, i think the geographer's guide to romance is a worthy addition to the genre.

A little trope-y for me.
