I love quirky books -- I really enjoyed the first one in this series. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it or something, but this was a struggle to get through. If you removed all of the parts where they look at the other person and pine endlessly, this story would be 1/3 shorter. I know it's a romance and all, but I'd love to get a little more reason as to why they're so into each other (outside of Elodie looking like a woodland nymph).
Also, the miscommunication trope is an ugly beast in this one. If you don't like drama that would be resolved by forcing the MCs to sit down and have a 5 minute conversation, avoid at all costs haha.
Unfortunately, wasn't quite for me. <3

Another quirky book by India Holton! This one was a bit harder for me to get into and I am not sure why, but it did not seem to flow a quickly as the first book did. I think the characters were a bit too structured for the comedy part of this to fully land as it did with the first one, but that does not mean it was a bad read, just different. It still was very silly and I liked how the fantastical and real world are combined in these books.
A fun romp.
My only complaint is the plot of this book felt far less urgent and without any urgency moving the book forward we're just left with two characters who refuse to communicate.

This isn't my favourite India Holton. I usually don't like miscommunication in romance novels, and this book hinges on that for the first three quarters, so you can see my struggle. I also didn't care as much for the plot, and it wasn't as funny as Ornithologist's. BUT I still loved the main characters, Elodie and Gabriel, who each felt like a different aspect of my own personality. Elodie starts off being the star of the show, but as soon as Gabriel starts to defrost, he becomes a lovely man that made my heart flutter.
I'm sad that I didn't love this book as much as the previous one, but I read a bit of the excerpt of the sequel and I'm really excited to read that book, seems like a great one.

I was promised Anne of GG x Twisters đ but I got a hot mess:
- if I took a shot for every time âHmmâ was used as the MMCâs witty introverted response, Iâd have been drunk stupid quick
- magic without any rhyme or reason is not whimsicalâitâs nonsensical
- thesaurus-aided prose is not clever writing when all those fancy words donât say anything that actually matters
- why consummate your marriage of convenience when no oneâs watching to see that you did?
