Dramatic and steamy, this dark mafia romance is utterly unputdownable. This book doesn’t beat around the bush and starts off right away with a desperate Natalia going to her best friend’s mobster father. She’s in trouble with her ex and needs Cristian’s protection. He’s considered a monster for good reason, though, and Natalia gets more than she bargained for coming to the head of the Marchetti crime family. However, things happen eventually that alter their situation, and an altogether different sort of relationship begins between Cristian and Natalia.
I absolutely could not get enough of these two! Natalia is feisty and doesn’t hold back. She’s formidable in her own way, and I loved how she didn’t hesitate to tell Cristian what she thought. And him? Cristian is the perfectly written and seriously hot mafia boss/older man who turned out to be more than I expected. There’s a complexity to his character that I found delightfully surprising, and I adored him.
Together Cristian and Natalia have insane chemistry. Like their romance is beyond steamy, but it’s not just physical. Despite the age gap and the other many things that should make it difficult for these two to work, they simply do. The spice is there (oh my is it ever), but I enjoyed the glimpses of that something more, too. Those moments made their relationship just feel right.
Also, I love that this book feels so fast paced. There’s plenty of action and certain things transpire that I didn’t expect, which made this the sort of book I didn’t want to put down. The drama is pervasive, and it made for a truly compelling read.
I couldn’t get enough of Cristian and Natalia’s story, and I was instantly addicted to their combustible tug of war. I’ve got a new favorite antihero in Cristian, and I’m beyond excited for the next book in this series.

This book was so much fun. I usually don’t like the dating your best friends dad trope, but this was literally so much fun.
I wanted so badly to give this book three stars because I enjoyed it for the most part . It was a fast read and there was enough action that made it more intriguing than just pages filled with smut . There was an age gap which can bother me sometimes but I felt it was appropriate enough I mean the FMC at least was not a child . But then it came down to my ick

“As long as this black heart beats, it is yours.”
Let’s start by saying this was my first Charity Ferrel book so I went into this kind of blind.
It was a good story had the makings of a decent book. Unfortunately I think that you can tell it’s the first time she wrote a mafia book. NOTHING against that at all because it’s a great book for a beginner.
I did enjoy this as the story got going. The beginning was a little off for me because I felt like I was reading 1/4 of the way in already, it was like I was missing something. It picked up and definitely got more interesting and the set up for the next story are two left me intrigued.
If you’re a seasoned mafia reader just go into this with the knowledge that it’s more of a beginner read

This is not my first book by charity as I’ve read most of not all her books. This is however the first darker romance I’ve read by her. This one started a bit slower then I’m used to however it was still so good I finished it in one day. This book is your jam if you enjoy mafia-best friends dad-age gap. Natalia and Christian is a story you are not gonna want to put down. Sparks a plenty
Christian is my new book boyfriend. He was everything. Mob boss with no heart. Taking advantage of every situation and this time it was his daughter’s best friend who is in danger. Natalia is funny with the way she handles Christian. Feared by all, she asks for snacks. The Oreos got me. With a little bit of mystery and side characters this was a great story. I can’t wait for Benny’s and GiGi’s story.
I received this ARC through the publisher and I am voluntarily reviewing this book, opinions are my own
