I really wanted to love this book. But it took me months to read it and in the end I ended up skipping a fair bit and was underwhelmed by the plot twist. It’s just really slow and it felt a bit monotonous at points.

I loved this thriller, which is about a man called Adam, his wife Jess and their three children, who move into a new house. They find a secret hidden area in the house, which contains different treasures that hold secrets, and these treasures lead to surprises. The book is full of mystery, secrets, tension and suspense, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I have read other books by this author, and they have all been fantastic. Highly recommended!

4.5 This really is the perfect domestic thriller, its perfectly written, propulsively fast paced and full of twists and turns. This is my third by this author and by far the best so far! It will not be my last. I loved the depth of the characters, the father figure in this novel felt so fleshed out that I audibly reacted any time there was danger. He really is a dad who's fighting for his family and will do anything it takes. I will say this didn't fool me but the red herrings are so craftily hidden that it was incredibly difficult to be sure.
