❗️SPOILERS ❗️

Hmm… I expected from this series a lot more than was given. This could’ve been so much better than it was.
I feel like the only way the author knew how to make the romance “dark” and to make the characters suffer was rape. And just… no.
The first book gave a good base to really drag out the burn but they just fell back in love too easily in my opinion.
The ending… Sabian’s death was so unnecessary and gave nothing to the plot. You make him a main character and just kill him off because “he needed to protect Galantia because he didn’t manage to protect his mate.” But did he need to die?? No.
I’ll still give 3 stars because I did enjoy the beginning of the book and the world building was new to me.

The story is an amazing evolution. This book destroyed me. I was emotionally wrecked.

The second book definitely has a lot more plot to it. There’s all the spice, but has more adventure and aspects of healing and finding hope and peace. Still has some triggers in it so be careful, but I like it!

4.5

This is a 4.5 for me. I actually liked the plot of this book a smidge more than the first one, but this book has such a bitter sweetness to the ending because there is a happy ending, but it does come with heartache which was such a surprise to me with its twist, but I really appreciated the surprise and feelings it brought out of me. But it wasn't just the ending the whole book has some bitterness to it that with other things that were going on or were uncovered in the book that definitely added some layers to this book.
But this is one of the better duets that I have read in a while as it felt complete. Some duets I have read recently either feel like there should have been a 3rd book or that the 2nd book was unnecessary but with this duet it was done really well not leaving anything unfinished but definitely continued the plot and added to it that the 2nd book definitely added to the story.
As for the characters you saw some real growth especially with Galantia who after learning the truth about her life could have crumbled under it decided to take the truth and grab it with two hands and do everything, she could claim her power and once she had it work to improve upon it. There were some stumbles, and it took a lot of hard work, but she was determined. So, I really appreciated that growth because that strength of will & character became necessary for her survival as the book
continued.
With the men Maylr also had to grow and change once he actually stops hiding and accepted what he knew deep down about Galantia and he knew he had to change and adjust otherwise he would lose her. Now he tried to play it off as he couldn't lose her because of the loss of power by their mating, but it was obvious that was just an excuse because he truly wanted her and cared about her. You see this when he tempers some of his initial thoughts/actions when it came to humans who he has a justified hatred for, but he changed because he knew to do otherwise could lose him Galantia.
Now with Sabian he was still the sweet and kind man that helped guide Maylr and Galantia to each other. In a way he was the glue that brought them together but even as he was happy, he was filled with regret and sadness that made you just want to hug him.
Overall, this was a dark bittersweet book that will give you a HEA, but it will come with some pains, but it fits so well with the story that it's worth the heartbreak.

This book continues the story of Galantia who just discovered that everything she thought about her life was a lie. So, after escaping the clutches of the Maylar and the court of ravens she ends up returning home to confront the mother who lied to her, her whole life. But she still has to keep the truth about herself hidden from her father who if he found out is sure to let his hatred of the ravens override what little if any love he might have for his daughter. But as she tried to uncover the truth about her life, the two men she flew away from are hard at work trying to recover their sweet dove so that they fix the mistakes they made not just for their sakes but for the sake of their kingdom as she might hold the power to fix the wrongs in the past that can help them win the war. But there are those on both sides who seek to destroy their bond but that won't stop them because she is theirs and they will get her back.

DID NOT FINISH: 40%

I can't stand one of the male leads, and none of his actions have me buying him as a viable love interest.
