The first book was endearing and such a quick, fun read. This book was just annoyingly slow and the characters even seemed different. Didn't want to waste my time on it anymore.

Solid extension of the first book. The story details the tribulations of the first year of marriage between two people who both have communication issues and are not used to having to consider other people in their actions. I enjoyed the first, so enjoyed the second.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review. All opinions are my own. I was so glad I read The Rosie Project first as it set the stage for this book. Don Tillman the genetics scientist finds himself in New York with Rosie his now wife. He has some friends even with his social awkwardness. He is happy, then he finds out Rosie is pregnant. His meltdown regarding the news starts a series of events that have major consequences. Don's mind works in logic, absolutes, and is so honest to a fault. His inability to show Rosie that he wants to be a father leaves their relationship in trouble. Don tackles this change the only way he knows, logically and with details trials and testing. Though ridiculous at times, he really is adorable sweet. I totally encourage reading this book after reading the Rosie Project.

Loving this story and looking forward to the 3rd book somewhere down the line. Funny, heartwarming read and a good break from 2020.

Not as good as the first one, slow going in the middle...the beginning and ending were good!

The Rosie Effect wasn't as lighthearted as The Rosie Project which, to be honest, I enjoyed. Don's narration is interesting and I don't feel the book was of a lesser quality than its predecessor which many reviews seem to indicate. It's nice to see how the characters tackle trickier issues. Yes, some points were repetitive, but then again, repetition is something that's a part of Don's preferred way of living and not all that surprising. I didn't find either book particularly funny to a "laugh out loud" level but they're still entertaining and perfect for summer reading.
