This book was super cute! It was a quick read. I enjoyed the banter and relationship between the main characters and the dual POVs. It was a very sweet story with a cute ending!

On my life this is one of the worst fake dating/friends to lovers books I’ve ever read.
I was really holding out for this book but the main characters annoyed me in ways I didn’t even know possible. Like she’s supposedly hilarious but in reality she’s cringy asf and while also supposedly being hilarious she has no friends apart from her sister and a man who has had multiple girlfriends while she hanged around and his team (I dunno if that made sense but whatever).
I physically recoiled from this book when she started getting all smart with HIS GIRLFRIEND because she’s going into his apartment and dropping of food and taking him for runs and being in contact and shit.
Not to mention her being a lousy girlfriend to the boyfriend she broke up with at the start of the book, leading him on into a 6 month relationship and then dumping him just because she wants to be with Nathan. AND THEN SHE SPENDS HALF THE BOOK SAYING INCEST JOKES BECAUSE IN HER EYES THEY COULD NEVER REALLY BE TOGETHER.
also i might be the only one brave enough to say it but all the boys on his team probably spent more time in the closet then on the field because why instead of adding more female characters for Bree to be friends with you associate them all with Nathan.
All the subplots where ignored like her injury and the whole reason why they where fake dating. THE NILE IS A RIVER IN EGYPT YOUR FRIENDS ARE GAY, BREE IS A PICK ME AND SUPER TOXIC, YOUR NOT FUNNY AND IF I HEAR EITHER ONE OF YOU USE THE WORD BOOTY ONE MORE TIME I WILL PULL A LADYBUG AND LAUNCH MYSELF ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM THE CAR IM CURRENTLY WRITING THIS REVIEW IN.
The ending…. Look I wanna spoil it real bad just so nobody ever had to endure reading this book but that would be unfair.
You have been warned because what the fuck did I just read.
Anyways I just read this back and it doesn’t make much sense which I think is pretty on theme with the whole book

umm.. i honestly don’t know what to think about this book. sometimes it was cute, but sometimes it was downright the most cringe shit i’ve ever read. here are some thoughts:
1. bree gave me such pick me and “i’m not like other girls” vibes, especially in the beginning. i would be uncomfortable too if my bf’s best friend acted the way she did! she got better later in the book, but not enough to redeem her. ugh
2. the characters were just really childish and immature. why are you acting like teenagers and trying to be all quirky and fun when you’re literally thirty?? you are grownups!
3. where is the plot? the conflict? there wasn’t anything driving the story forward except the fake-dating, but even that was unsatisfying.
4. the side characters were really flat. their only purpose was to tell nathan and bree how stupid they were being. sure, i enjoyed their banter sometimes, but that was all they were doing.
5. i HATED the surprise wedding, but that’s just a personal preference so if that’s your thing, good for you ig.
on the plus side, i liked the anxiety rep and it was well-written. it was fluffy, cute and even funny (at times), but not enough to make up for the negative parts. i’m honestly impressed with myself that i finished this book.
