Squeaky clean, fade to black, Disney princess shit. But would make a good palate cleanser.
This screamed pick me for the first 30 pages and made me cringe the entire time, then it was cute but then cringe again

so so bad. written like a wattpad book so ofc my 14 year old self loved it
It was a good book. I enjoyed the humor and how each character was described. The epilogue could have been another chapter, and she could’ve wrote a better epilogue to end their story.
3.5⭐

Juvenile.
That's the word that's been on my mind the whole time reading this book.
It was a cute story. I love friends to lovers trope, I love when there's vulnerability showed through the male character, I loved the mention of panic attacks and burn-out.
But it read like a fanfiction from Wattpad. I don't know, couldn't help it. I'm not saying all books need to look the same, the variety in writing makes books so great, but personally, I disliked this style of writing. All of the things written in caps or cursive seemed so not suited for a printed book. Everything was described to such detail I felt like I was in their heads, thinking each thought with the characters and it was crowded. The whole text was too much at times. I love some good character driven plot but as I said, I felt like I was reading a FF. The comedy was sometimes good, other times it felt exaggerated. I felt like some scenes and situations would do well in a sitcom on TV instead of a book.
The characters' voices sounded the same to me. What I mean by that is, that I believe this is how the author thinks and speaks, and both of those characters were just her mind talking to itself.
To circle back to "juvenile", it's not about the book not being spicy (even though I'd like some of that). It was just the fact that the characters appeared so immature to me. How old were they supposed to be? Bree was such a jumpy, all-over-the-place, awkward woman. I am awkward myself, so holy hell. Also, I found it very icky of her to be so proud that Nathan would choose her over everyone - she even went as far as talking down to his mother. She deserved that but you don't just square up to someone and think to yourself what a mistake this woman did being rude to her - how was she any better?
I believe this book had potential. It was a good story. I liked the author's ability to use her words, describe feelings, situations, looks.
But dang, I would not want to have been the editor. Hope that person got paid well.
