I liked the art work and the European vs American vampire dichotomy (though inaccurate because there are European myths that feature vampires who can walk in broad daylight.) but that's it.
The anti-hero didn't have any qualities that could make me care about him or not be irritated by him. The characters were like stock characters without good motives and that last bit with James and Abileno is just creepy.

An interesting vampire story that engages but doesn't capture. Decent fare.

I liked Snyder’s portion of this comic but found King’s dull and uninteresting. If I could I would give a 5 star to Snyder and a 2 star to King.

An interesting twist on the contemporary vampire genre. The story is good, the art is great, and the writing gets you through. I anticipate as Mr King gets more comfortable with the format the writing may improve.

Split timeline brought mystery and intrigue. Loved how the early time was set in Colorado. Illustration was phenomenal.

I liked the sections written by Scott Snyder better than the sections written by King. I'm a sucker for cross genre stories like this, especially when Westerns are involved, so this was a real treat to find and read. I think the concept of the "American Vampires" being different from the "European Vampires" is a very interesting one and I'm looking forward to seeing how that's fleshed out.
Hattie and Pearl are very well done and Snyder has a way of making characters feel human in a way I really appreciate. I do think that dismissing the crucifix imagery with "I'm an atheist" misses the purpose of the crucifix in vampire lore, but this is an increasingly common thing to see in the genre nowadays so I suppose I can't critique them for that.
