✨"We all keep secrets. We may never reveal all our faults, the mysteries we hide from someone we love most."

I inhaled this book. I meant to read "just one chapter" before bed at 1am to get a feel of things, only I didn't want to stop. First thing I did when I woke up was to continue reading until the end!

The story was gripping from start to end. Easy to fly through but also full of twisty moments. The steamy scenes were well-written too

Love love love!
I don’t think I’ve ever been more shocked while reading a book, so thank you for my current mental state.

Do you ever write a whole review… only to accidentally delete it all trying to copy it from your Notes? No? Me either.

“ Well F**k “
This is my favourite quote in the book and pretty much describes the whole book very well! If you like to read stories where you never have any idea where it’s going, and you liked to be shocked then this is the book for you!

I loved the format of this book as well, the story is broken down into different acts and I really enjoyed the plot from different perspectives! Dual POVS done well!

I loved the characters, I think you are supposed to hate some of them but they were all just sooo interesting! I could not put this down!

I don’t want to say any more and ruin the experience just go read it!

Firstly, the grammatical errors throughout killed my soul. Whoever edited this didn’t do a great job.

Now that’s out of the way… let’s start with the main character Sam. I think he is supposed to be damaged but likeable, sexy and endearing but instead he comes across as arrogant and a bit of a knob really. I really didn’t care for him and most of the narrative from him made me want to punch a wall.

The storyline was literally non-existent for the initial 50-60% of the book; which seemed to be dedicated to various (completely un-erotic) shagging scenes. I forgot I was supposed to be reading a thriller and had mistakenly picked up 50 descriptions of Sam’s dick.

The twist, when it eventually came was not a surprise, and everything was really quite predictable. I think when you have read enough thrillers they get a bit formulaic and not much is genuinely shocking and I’m afraid that’s what happened here.

Despite everything it was insanely easy to read and I did fly through it, which doesn’t make much sense given my criticism, however I don’t know what to tell you? It was just one of those books where you just switch off and plough through despite it being a bit of a garbage fire.

Just when you think this book is a nice, simple romance book, from the guys point of view, with a bit of dysfunctional family thrown in, the author takes you for a ride! As I ate up the final chapters trying to find out what happens, I couldn’t put the book down! I was a train just barreling down the track with no brakes!

OK how was this a debut?! I am NOT ok after reading this book. The thriller aspect of this book was so unexpected. I had to go back and reread the synopsis because I thought I missed something. Nope - Kristin Mulligan is just that good at throwing a major twist in your face. It was so unexpected in the best way possible. This book was romantic, funny, thrilling - just enough of everything to satisfy every reader. I’m so glad this lived to the hype. Add this to your Amazon cart now. This is your sign.
