I don’t think I’ll ever read a classic and say I loved it. Frankenstein was obnoxiously repetitive and way longer than it had to be. Understandably that’s how long books were back when this was made so I can’t hate it for that. Unfortunately reading it through a modern lens I can’t sympathize for anyone but Frankenstein probably. Man just wanted a lady to live his life with but MC didn’t want him to be happy. Overall MC is a total piece of shit and I’ll never get over how unlikeable characters in classics seem to be. I’m just picky perhaps

The most moving part of this book was undoubtedly the section narrated by the creature. Completely gut-wrenching. I also did not expect this to have so much nature-centered prose, and I was pleasantly surprised at Shelley’s writing style in this regard. It communicated such a deep part of human nature through the lens of both the human and the creature.
I wish the part narrated by Victor himself would have made him somewhat more redeemable simply for my own pleasure, but I guess that would contradict the whole point of the book.

My first classics read! And damn, every word by the creature is so full of emotions, which is a very least expected trait of the creation of Frankenstein.
All i know since i was young that Frankenstein is the zombie like creature in those movies. But that creature has no name at all. Viktor Frankenstein is actually the scientis or creator and has not even named him at all. Only called him daemon or fiend.
This is a testament that we are the ones who create our own monsters. Succumb to pride and ambition, blinded by greatness, never checking the consequences, until regret fruits from our greed.
This introduction to classics has awakened me to read more. Cant wait for my next one.
