On the fence about this one. I liked it, though!
I think the pacing was off towards the end there and was quite slow to build compared to books that I say I am more used to in romance in general.

The subject matter was so incredibly hard hitting though, this isn't just some silly little lighthearted romance and understandably so when you're comparing vampirism to alcoholism. However, that made this a little difficult to get into ngl. There were silly moments and the spicy scenes made me somewhat blush, again, I enjoyed it! When you've got a supernatural romance like this, you do have to just suspend belief but I still think there were moments where I just had to realise that that would NOT be me in that situation.

Still, an interesting read and I have heard of Jae as a well known author for sapphic romances before so I am glad to have read this!

Keen to hear what the bookclub thinks about this one. I think a more positive vote than the last one and really, who can go wrong with vampires?

4 stars. This was a lot of fun. Robin is a vampire and she wants to go on a diet and not drink human blood anymore so she joins AA. There she meets Alana who has been sober for eighteen months and begins to sponsor Robin. She also is more than she seems. This was such a fast paced and very entertaining read. It gave me the vibes of older urban fantasy romances from the early 2000s and I mean that in the best way possible.

I’m a big fan of Jae. She’s one of my favorite author’s and I think she and Grey did really well on this. I’m not familiar (I don’t think) with Grey’s writing style but it blended seamlessly with Jae’s. The humor was great and it was paced well. There was definitely some depth here as well as we watch Robin really struggle against her desire to drink blood. She also is having some trouble with her coven because of her decision. Alana is there to help her every step of the way which I loved. Those two were great for each other and I loved how they worked through their issues so there is no third act breakup.

Overall, this was awesome and I can definitely see myself re-reading it because it has such a cozy vibe to it and it seriously put me in a good mood.

This was a fun and unique take on vampires and other mythological creatures. I would have given it 4 stars, however, several parts felt repetitive.
