Stayed up late finishing this because I got REALLY sucked in the story spans two youths from age 13 or so to mid twenties. But it’s far from typical. It’s a modern Frankenstein like tragedy.

The two main characters are John and Chloe, but the third narrates part is Eggs. He was introduced about a quarter or so into the story but became my favorite POV. So matter of fact. So raw and honest. Hands down the best character.

I do hope this becomes a movie. In the hands of a good writer/director, it could really be something.

Two and a half stars. This was a pretty big disappointment after the greatness of the authors first two novels, YOU and Hidden Bodies. The premise here is strong but fails to deliver.

Jon is a teenager when he is kidnapped on his walk to school. His best friend Chloe mourns his loss almost more than his parents do. When Jon mysteriously returns years later, he is not the same and eventually leaves Chloe again, this time by choice, because he believes it's necessary to keep her safe.

The story starts out strong then quickly dissolves into a bunch of weirdness that was difficult to follow. The middle is meandering and pointless at times, I struggles to stay with it. Then, the last 10% of the novel was my favorite part, so I'm glad I stuck with it. Eggs is the only character I didn't find weak and annoying.

There are plenty of other thrillers that deliver much more than this one. I highly recommend the authors other works, but maybe skip this one.

I liked this, I just didn't LOVE it. I think the You series being such bangers set my expectations too high on this one!

this was not my cup of tea. I gave up halfway through. Maybe if I had read Lovecraft I would have enjoyed it more.

Good story, a little different with this whole HP Lovecraft thing, but I liked it. I enjoy a little weirdness in my stories. I like this author's writing style.

The only reason why I did not devour this book in one-sitting is because I was exhausted from waking up at 4am. I started this book late last night, fell asleep while reading it, left home late today because of it, and spent my prep time at school finishing it.

Caroline Kepnes creates unforgettable characters who stay in readers' mind long after the final page is turned. There is something about this book that feels as if Stephen King could have written it.

Jon is the right amount of broken and noble. I would say that Chloe is stunted, but she isn't really, she just hasn't been able to develop her true potential because she carries around the guilt of not believing Jon would come back the first time he went away. As for Eggs, Kepnes should venture out onto detective novels because I would read more about him.

This was very intriguing read. Very thought provoking. Is it weird and odd, yes! I think it adds to the charm of the story. The audio was very well done and I loved that there was three different narrators for John, Chloe, and Eggs POV. I personally just love how this authors books are not the norm. She goes outside the box and makes you think.
