Hard to rate this book because I found it pretty challenging to read. It made me think about how we tend to summarize our lives but fail to capture the essential humanity of day to day perception. I think I will take away the phrase "pierced by perception" even if Bernard wouldn't want me to think in phrases.
This book is a miracle. I might just carry it with me everywhere I go. What insight Woolf had.
A group as a communal conscience - their words and perspectives and unconscious thoughts meld together and intertwine with one another's. Woolf verbalizes the unsaid, captures the small nuances of being with such sympathy and insight. In doing so, a story simple in outline is rendered unbelievably poignant.

It's undoubtedly a work of genius, and I was in awe countless times while reading this book. But I think stream of consciousness works best when it's kept short. As much as I love many of the texts, I had to admit that I got bored (even frustrated) and found myself skimming through the text after reading for 30 minutes every time I picked it up.

Some really beautiful lines and sections that I genuinely marvelled at, scattered throughout generally difficult to follow train of thoughts.

Love love love Virginia Woolfe. The plot was a little hard for me to grasp w all the characters but it was a good novel overall
"I rose and walked away - I, I, I; not Byron, Shelley, Dostoevsky, but I, Bernard. I even repeated my own name once or twice. I went, swinging my stick, into a shop, and bought - not that I love music - a picture of Beethoven in a silver frame, not that I love music, but because the whole of life, its masters, its adventures, then appeared in long ranks of magnificent human beings behind me; and I was the inheritor."
