Hear me out, this book is good. It’s got the historical and political context that I liked, but it was just so disturbing and made me angry (which was probably Orwell’s point but I digress). Animal Farm is one of those books you read once, unpack, and then probably won’t ever read again. It was short and to the point, which was nice, but it felt too predictable.

Whether or not someone knew Animal Farm was an allegory, it’s painfully easy to see the message that Orwell wanted to get across. I read this for my English class and all I can say is that I actually read it instead of looking at the sparknotes.....

I just felt it was too on the nose about what Orwell was trying to say. Of course, the pigs end up in charge, with Napoleon being a dictator. Of course, the sheep just repeat whatever they are told, following the status quo. Of course, the horse works hard, believes that its hard work will be repaid.
But it annoyed me and lowkey bored me too. Thank goodness it was as short as it was, otherwise I would have DNF'd this. At least now I can say I've read it, but it's not that deep. Sorry.
