I've never read an alien book before. I don't even like alien movies. It's just not my thing.

However I did enjoy reading Transcendence by Shay Savage and this book kind of reminds me of that. So it was better than I thought, even the alien elements didn't feel as bad.

Great plot idea. Amateurish writing. A lot of this just felt like a flight of ideas. I've read better fanfiction.

Ruth was an absolute moron. Her endlessly inane thoughts killed one of my brain cells for each word I read. Plus, an unusually large percentage of her thoughts revolved around sex. Now, this is not slut shaming. I'm saying, as a young, female human being who finds herself in a metal cage with a strange, terrifying beast, she should be thinking more about survival and less about his schlong. In fact, the first thing she wants to do once they escape is to seduce this (possibly married) alien creature she has known a week and shares no commonality aside from being abducted and imprisoned. They cannot understand each other's languages and they don't seem to share any cultural body language.

And who the hell, from the western civilization of Earth, would find themselves forcefully removed of their clothing, then go over to the terrifying, strange beast and ask for a cuddle? WTF is wrong with this chick? She is definitely too stupid to live.

I'm not sure what made me finish this, other than the fact that it was so short. The series absolutely does NOT deserve the high praise it has received.

2.5⭐️ Alien smut, disguised as a story.

Not what I was hoping for, but easy enough to read, mostly.

There was so much repetition. So much inner monologue [almost the entire book].

The characters would ask themselves a question, or state something in their heads, 4 or 5 different ways.
What will happen?
Will I die?
Will I be kidnapped?
Will I freeze?
Maybe I will freeze, then die?

On and on it would go. Then onto the next block of nonsense.

I skipped so much, reading only the beginning and end of each block, and understood the story just fine.

The story was at least 70% sexual, with the rest inner monologuing, and a dash of plot.

Despite all these issues, I didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it, but was curious enough to finish it, and want to know what happens next.

Note: the entire book, the MC’s cannot understand each other, and don’t really bother trying to learn the others language [ Even if they can’t physically pronounce the words, they still could have tried to understand, or create their own mix.. Didn’t even try to use written words to compensate, even a type of hieroglyph maybe

Ruth and Gron!

So, a little strange and a lot unexpected but I loved it. I do wish it didn’t end where it did and the story carries over but at least I’m reading this after book two is already out.

You know, I usually steer clear of 'aliens' and such, like I thought I hated them, yet I seem to love all the ones I read. And for some reason, I think I love Angel books, but I hate the ones I read (minus Angelfall). So clearly I'm holding myself back badly and need to pick a few more alien sci fi type romances because they're my jam! Especially primitive species and ones with language barriers. Why didn't I think of this before?! AND HES A VIRGIN. I died. Really, they all seem to be coming at me like this, concoctions of all my favourites! Ah I went ahead and bought book two as soon as I finished one and I never buy books so the $8 in one day is very shocking of me when I tend to only buy paperbacks not ebooks. I won't read it just yet as I need to do some stuff, maybe game a bit more, but shit am I excited to continue.

3.5/5 ⭐
2/5 🌶️

**Tropes**
- Caveman/grunting
-Language barrier
-Kidnapped female

📖 **My Thoughts**
I asked for a recommendation in the discord for a caveman style story and this definitely fit the bill! The MMC was grunty and saw women as a superior and to be worshiped. I really liked those aspects, I felt the story needed a bit more plot and there wasn't as much build/tension as I would have liked. I got really caught up at the end again, I didn't see it coming.

⚠️ **Triggers**
-Kidnapping
-Forced nudity

<:0_flag_progress_pride:1077471157575491594> **Representation**
Nope

🌶️ **Spice**
Spice happened about half way through and was a cutlural difference moment.
