I never thought that reading the food diary of one of my favorite actors would be so charming, but it is indeed extremely charming. And a great antidote for my election anxiety.

If ‘Taste’ were a food memoir, then this is a food journal. It’s aptly titled. If you loved ‘Taste’, I suspect you’ll like this, but if you only liked ‘Taste’… perhaps don’t bother?
There’s been a fair bit of talk that this reads as pretentious… and it does, but not beyond what I’d assume. It still has a charm to it, and I have a few new ideas for dinner.

I used to say I would listen to Stanley Tucci reading a shopping list. Now that I have, I am a happier person. This book is not as strong as "Taste", but it could never be. This is the book you read when you crave reading "Taste" for the first time, but can't. I adored it. It made me hungry, and happy, and I'm always up for feeling like that. I highly recommend it, as much as I recommend listening to Stanley Tucci reading a shopping list.
4 stars.
Gifted to me by my husband after we enjoyed Taste of Italy with Stanley Tucci, I wasn't sure what this book would be. It was a very charming diary of sorts. Stanley recounts over the course of 2023 his culinary experiences. Some homemade, some gastronomic adventures. It includes some recipes and a lot of name dropping. It doesn't ring obnoxious nor irritating after his decades in the industry and his marriage to a fellow insider. It just made me wish I had an invitation to the Tucci table.
