Uhm, ok. I'm ashamed to admit I almost DNF this book a couple of times.
To be completely honest, I only picked it up because of the cover. It's so freaking cute, isn't it?
I'm not familiar with this author, but the writing was pretty good. However, the plot is a tad ridiculous. The main characters are a mess. The kids are awful and spoiled and did nothing to make me love them, on the contrary.
I'm a bit confused because some parts of the book made me feel uncomfortable. I don't know much about entitled, rich people, but these sucked.

I guess I just didn't resonate with this book, at all. Don't be fooled by the cute cover, though. There's spice in there. Pretty good spice, but I think the characters are horrendous. I'm sorry.

Dnf at just over 50%. These children are not 'precious'. They're more like the creepy children in the original (black and white) Village of the Damned.

You can't beat Lily Morton or KD Edwards for cool kids who are smart, funny, clever, naughty, real. Why spend so much of my review on the kids when it's an mm? Because so much of the story revolves around the precious, precious children. Precious. Blurgh. What they are is Gollums, in puffy dresses that conjure images of Shirley Temple.

Also, I don't understand why if Walker Cameron the thirty third point third, is such an astute/successful businessman who daily (it seems) takes calls from presidents and prime ministers, yet has no secretary or assistant to run his office for him, he writes his own diary and his BUTLER clears his papers for him. In fact he doesn't even have an office of staff to run his empire. Just his butler to clear up. Now don't get me wrong, I believe in the power of an excellent butler but that is a bit much.

Well whatevs. It's a no thank you very much kind regards from me.

The Last Nanny in Manhattan was a delightful confection of a rom-com.

The set-up is like a mash-up of Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music (but make it gay): Finley Marshall is a recently unemployed nanny, and he’s the last resort of Walker Cameron III, a titan of finance who is no match for his 6-year-old triplet girls. Walker lost his husband three years prior, and his grief has made him even more closed off than he was before. Luckily, Fin is an expert with children, and despite the girls’ attempts to run him off, he quickly wins them — and their grumpy father — over. As Walker talks with and actually listens to Fin and his advice, the two grow closer, and Fin notices how well Walker responds to praise … and certain other things.

What follows is a sweet and cute romance, with just the right amount of steam and a little light kink. I loved how much Walker wanted to change and be there for the girls, and how Fin made sure that there were boundaries in place as Walker felt his way back toward a romantic relationship. This is the first book in the Nannies of New York series, and I can’t wait to see where this author goes next!
