Since this is a short story collection, I will rate the short stories themselves before giving an overall rating. These short stories go with the Delirium trilogy. I read Hana a long time ago but forgot most of it.

Hana:

It was interesting seeing things from Hana's POV, especially since she is the one who you expect to rebel against society. I've never really been a fan of her character in general and while I did somewhat feel for her, I hated her actions toward the end. 2.5 Stars

Anabel:

I liked Anabel's story the best. It was interesting seeing how her world became the one it is now and also how Lena's mother became imprisoned. I only wish it had been longer because it felt like it weny by really fast. 3 Stars

Raven:

It's been a while since I've read the trilogy so I don't remember a lot about Raven's character but she was easy to sympathize with in this one. It was neat seeing things from her POV though I wish it had included her finding Blue because it would have made more of an impact. 3 Stars

Overall:

Overall I like that there are different POVs for this trilogy and I found them interesting though not nearly as good as the first two books in the series. 2.5 Stars . Might re-read again when I read the trilogy again.

I really liked Annabel's story. It was nice to see things from her perspective.

On a semi-related note, according to the little "what kind of fighter are you?" quiz at the end, I am quiet, simple, and predictable--like all the people who line up to be cured. Thanks for the encouragement? Seriously, not everyone needs to have this up-and-at-'em attitude. There's nothing wrong with being softer, less of a warrior heroine and more of a passive thinker. Just saying. :P

Hana and her best friend Lena have been friends for ages but lately things are changing. They're going to be Cured soon, but before they do, Hana is determined to experience life. She's been matched, yes, but she sneaks out at night to go to parties and dance and make out with a guy. Lena doesn't really approve, and that's driving a wedge between them.

But what Hana doesn't know is that Lena is also keeping her own secrets.

Okay, wow, this book. It's really a short story, probably only about 100 pages, but it changes everything. I can't wait for the third book in the Delirium trilogy and I hope that there's going to be another short story to bridge Pandemonium and book three.

I think the most impressive thing about Lauren Oliver's books is that everything is just so beautifully crafted and deliberate. Does that make sense? Nothing is wasted and everything is essential.

I'm glad that so far, she's released a couple of books a year (there will be a middle-grade release in the fall). I worry that she won't keep this pace up, but that's a concern for next year, I suppose.

If you haven't read her books yet, absolutely start now. They're all amazing. I think Before I Fall is my absolute favorite, but they're all amazing.

Highly recommended.

At first I struggled to get through it but when I sat down and emersed myself in the book I really loved it. At the start I was still in a Book Hangover from The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobosky. I feel in love with Alex then hated him then loved and hated all the way through but you killed him Lauren!!! The end was rushed to much for me but it gave me anticipation to go and read the second book. It was a longer book but I powered through and loved it.

I gave it 4 stars.
