This was both an interesting story in it's own right (up until the last few pages when it explicitly connected it to parts 1 & 2 of The New York Trilogy), and a very satisfying conclusion to the interconnect meditation on self and identity.

The mysteries of the New York trilogy stick with you long after closing the books themselves. (I doubt I’ll ever stop mulling the idea that stories happen to the people capable of telling them.)

Hard to tell which of this trilogy is my favorite, but I do love how this transpired. It feels like there’s a distinct set of three acts in this story, and it’s easy to get lost in each of them after the first 10-15 pages of each of them.

More Auster absurdity. This one wraps up the trilogy nicely and left me with a strange taste in my mouth - not an unpleasant one, but one that has stuck with me for the following few days. Might still be unpacking this book and this trilogy as a whole for the next few days.

Wow!

The first two books in the trilogy were much better. This one fell flat for me.

By far my favourite out of the three NY novels. Beautiful and clear pose, amazing insights on love and identity, and truly fleshed out characters! 4*

This was probably my favourite of the three, perhaps because it felt more subtle. The surreal elements of the book were tucked a bit deeper in, so the tale could still operate like a more straight forward narrative on the surface.
