I'm not sensitive to maybe topics while reading but this just felt wrong from the beginning.
I simply wasn't enjoying it. I'm sure it may have had something more important to say eventually but I just, honestly, didn't feel like giving it the time.

It’s a creative book, but having watched the movie first a lot of the mystery was spoiled for me. I want to try again another time.

The last chapter of the book, which is a letter from Bella Baxter telling her own life story, contradicts the entire plot up to that point. Though I cannot imagine a more fitting ending, I had so thoroughly enjoyed the story that I was disappointed at its dismissal.

Two books for the price of one, that's the deal you get if you read Poor Things. One story (sort-of), two completely different experiences both for the characters and the reader.
I told my friend, the one who pushed me to read this book, that I believe there are three requirements to fully appreciate this book: 1. being a doctor/expert in anatomy, 2. being very familiar with Glasgow, 3. being a linguist. This is because a.; b. because language and verbal and nonverbal communication are two of the protagonists of this book.
All in all it was still a great read and a complex, multilayered work; I recommend reading it.

Spoiler
the subtle mistakes present in Alfie's POV are all analyzed and corrected either in Victoria's POV or the appendix, which is a mind-blowing expedience - I remember frowning at a wildly inaccurate anatomy description given as accurate and only cited in passing, just for the mistake to be talked about later on. I missed other inaccuracies because I wasn't familiar with the topic, and I think it would have been an even more incredible experience if I hadAll in all it was still a great read and a complex, multilayered work; I recommend reading it.
The final letter from Victoria at the book pushed it from a 4 to a 5, reminding you that this book is truly a work of fiction. It adds another complex layer to an already incredible work of fiction.
I love it when a book is just as lovely and surprising as the movie.
Sorry I didn't read it first.
Bella is the best of us.
