a creative and sensitive acid trip of what's best and worst in life. I don't see anybody else making such an extraordinary movie out of it than Lanthimos, but

his clear exploitation of Bellas' (briefly mentioned in the book) sexual encounters on screen, and the absence of Victorias' ending letter are certainly a choice that rings a bell awfully alike to the word malegaze...

Such a cool twist on the Frankenstein story- look how well things can go if a naive young person has a strong support system instead of an absent creator and angry villagers lol. I hope to be more like Bella.
Just as fun as the movie, but different enough that you can enjoy both.

This book was FASCINATING. Unreliable recounts form different POV (though i would have adored a direct POV from Bella) it was extremely interesting to see the story fold out, because I did not know what to expect as I approached the book after watching the film. Alasdair Gray created a world that lives in a world, with unique and fun characters, with different views, perspectives and attitudes. The world Gray created was detailed, with mixtures of fiction and history, mixtures of extremists sides on both ends, and it was always interesting. Dare I say, the book is better than the movie, though I love the movie very much.
