This book would have been so much better if a straight, white man didn't write it.

I was really enjoying the book until the end. It got kind convoluted and rushed. Plus the transphobic language used for one character felt out of place.

What a mess of a book.
Misogyny, transphobia, toxic masculinity, xenophobia, broad and constant stereotyping, bad writing, offensive language, an all over the place plot. This book had it all and reveled in it. It made no attempt to deconstruct any of these things, instead choosing stylized excess.
So much of the writing consisted of what Lisa ate or wore, and for no real reason that I could tell.
At some point, the plot just lost itself to sex and b movie violence. At least while Boro was around, the plot moved, even if it was often sideways or backwards. But when Boro "died" so did most of the plot.
I think the author was making an attempt to show how shallow, vain, and narcissistic Hollywood/ LA is, but he does so in such an over the top way that it does little more than bash you in the head with the idea.
Overall this was a mess and not even a fun one.

it's not good, but I had a lot of fun reading it. it's very Cool Bisexual Girl who's written by a straight man, so I'd probably recommend the show over the book to most people. if you like extreme horror and can look past the outdated ways LGBT characters, women, and poc are referred to you might enjoy it.

If I could give this book zero stars, I would. It just might be the absolute worst thing I’ve ever read and I spent years reading Twilight fanfic.

I watched the Netflix show and was so intrigued by the absurdity of it I had to pick up the book it was based on. I was hoping it would answer some of the absolutely bizarre questions the show left me with. Unfortunately, the show was only based on the first ~60 pages of this 640 page crapshoot.

The writing style is a mess. The plot is practically nonexistent. All of the characters, but especially the main character, are horrid. The ending was disappointing. I don’t think I have ever disliked anything more.

An interesting tale that too often gets lost in its own strangeness, oddity for oddity’s sake, rather than storytelling.
