VOCE FUORI DAL CORO ALERT: è decisamente troppo lungo!!! quanto si capisce, specialmente da quando la scena si sposta in italia, che più parole scrive più lo pagano.
la prima parte del libro è una premessa perfetta per un romanzo di avventura; a seguire, c'è troppo di tutto. mi sento di consigliare il libro in una versione con qualche taglio, perché secondo me non è stato editato a dovere, diventa troppo prolisso. la risoluzione non è particolarmente soddisfacente per quanto mi riguarda, e il personaggio del conte si avvicina tanto alla divinità che si perde di vista: non è più una persona, è un ineffabile superuomo che vuole solo una cosa nella vita, e per questo si sacrifica ogni tipo di profondità.

-The Count- the titular character of the story, I personally love the Count. He is super smart, though the bitterness that has overcome his life is off putting, yet made him so interesting to read. He is very isolated, yet you can sympathize with him.
-the Plot- super long, 1200+pages, yet I praise the author for its intricate plot and wide set of characters
-the relationships and side characters- I loved Maximilian and Valentine, I shipped them, I also liked Mercedes and Albert.
The writing- I honestly haven't read a ton of books from this era, but the ones I have do not have anything near as good as the writing in this book. A lot of the conversations these characters have are very deep, and include a lot of themes, and incorporate overall great dialogue.
-the fifth of September and the Fifth of October- these chapters,..... Amazing

-the dungeon- Edmond's imprisonment, though my only point being that this imprisonment takes place over a decade, and it felt too quick, not emphasized enough
It is lengthy, but worth every page.
The author uses amazing details to paint a picture of every setting and also a feel of the era. I also love the theme and overall arc of the characters.
It is not a classic for no reason! Deserving of the praise.
