This was so cute and wonderful. Haters and rivals-to-lovers who flirt but can't stand each other, with a geek touch on the side? Yes, please!

This was super delightful and cute. I was put off originally by the *enemies to lovers* vibe, but it's much more of a disdain to acquaintances to friends to lovers, and I thought the progression mostly worked.

The little You've Got Mail bit with the letter writing was freaking adorable and swoon worthy and it was just really friggin cute. If you like type-A YA protagonists, here are two.

It was my cup of tea and I loved it.

This book was very cheesy and cute. I pretty much guessed most of the plot besides the ending with Carter. That plot point was rough. But I assumed Grayson was our mystery letter man a couple letters in it just seemed so right especially before the ended up going to the dance together. It really sucks though that in the end Carter was definitely not a great friend in anyway and seeing him push the whole narrative of he could change things and get her to like him as more than a friend was just gross.
Overall though not a bad quick read especially if you need something between heavier books.

Debate and speech huh?

The pro's of this book were wayy less than the cons.
I mean the characters seemed under developed and the writing style seemed boring.
3 stars seem too much but the plot was okay and I'm not a harsh rater..( i hope)

How to speak boy is my favorite kind of YA: swoony, somewhat predictable, and filled with likable characters you want to root for. It follows two debate team rivals: Quinn and Grayson.

Quinn is the protagonist and the story is told in the first-person from her perspective in a quintessentially YA romance fashion. Quinn may be the captain of the debate team, but she’s not doing great at AP American Government. When she checks her mailbox at school and discovers that her test has been swapped with another student’s, the two become a kind of pen pal, leaving notes in the box of the other. There’s only one problem, she doesn’t know who her mysterious pen pal is. But Quinn has enough problems, namely her team co-captain Grayson. The two have always been competitive, but now it’s their senior year and all bets are off. As the two compete they develop an unlikely friendship and Quinn must decide how much she’s willing to risk to follow her heart.

I really liked How to Speak Boy. I’ve never read a book in which characters were members of debate and between that and the fact that it’s set in Boise, Idaho, it had a unique feel. I also loved the two main characters, especially Grayson. He’s the perfect mix of competitive and sweet.

I thoroughly recommend How to Speak Boy to other fans of Young Adult Romance! It’s definitely one to check out!

Thank you to @xpressoreads, @swoonreads, and @netgalley for my review copy!

This was a lot of fun and Quinn and Grayson has a great and flirty enemies to lovers situation which is always enjoyable. This was such a quick and engaging read - super addicting and pure fun. My main complaint is the big time jumps that happen within the story, it makes it a bit harder to buy some of the development between the characters. And I could have done without Quinn's friend Carter, but other than that this was an enjoyable read that had a quintessential romcom feel.

I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
