might deserve the full five, need to pick up that edition that has morrison's original script.

I can definitely see where the premise for the game came from. Titles like these have given me a new appreciation for directors who have allowed the villains of this franchise to truly be villains on the screen. These were not silly enemies Bruce Wayne was fighting, but serious, maniacal terrors.

Still one of my favorite Batman books out there and, with the exception of a couple clunky lines of dialogue, holds up exceptionally well.

I loved this. A very different story from the usual villain of the month tale. Like The Killing Joke, we get to delve into characters' psyche rather than it just being about people punching each other out.

This may be a Batman story but there is a lot about the history of Arkham Asylum and it's owner.

Told through juxtaposition and flashback, this story asks readers to answer that most crucial of DC questions - can a man parading around in a bat-suit truly qualify as sane?

There are a lot of similarities with The Killing Joke which follows a similar theme but is far more gruesome.

The greatest drawback, and the reason I'm not giving it 5 stars, is the art. Honestly, I spent too much time trying to figure out what the blotches of paint were trying to represent. And the font for the Joker's dialogue? Indecipherable!

Some people may love this kind of art and it did at times fit the tone of the story, but I found it incredibly annoying.

It is commendable that the story remains strong despite the art. An incredibly important part of the Batman canon.
dark emotional reflective tense fast-paced

Love the art, love the darkness of it, hate the homophobia and transphobia surrounding the characterization of the Joker.

Héle mooie visuals, maar een beetje een warrig verhaal.

Creepy.

radical artwork, and genuinely creepy. Far more psychological than it is action-packed.
