I’m not going to leave a super long review on this one because I don’t intend on finishing the series. I am always on the lookout for good omega verse recs. I have read other books from poison verse and liked some of them but I don’t really feel like I enjoyed this one a ton.
The beginning was kind of missing important details and was hard to follow. The FMC is a gold pack omega who essentially has come to the college she is at to get her mates to fall for her. She found out online who her scent match was, and is really eager to get to know them and bond with them, but then she ends up being picked by this other pack, who is kind of feared, and known for being the wealthiest pack in the school. There are sort of flashbacks to her being almost tested on I believe and they say constantly that her scent makes Alphas violent but it makes the pack who chose her calm. If I had to guess what happens in book 2 I would say that she finds out that they’re her actual scent matches and that the other ones aren’t because it sounds like the guys who chose her were tested on too. I don’t know the plot fell short for me.
I am a dark romance lover, and it takes a lot to make me uncomfortable, but I feel like when it comes to dark romance, especially non-con and dub con there has to be almost this sort of implied yes by the fmc. This book felt very rapey (I don’t know how else to explain it). It’s very obvious the first couple of times the FMC does stuff with one of the MMC’s that she doesn’t even want to on a base level until later on and so it made me really uncomfortable.
Overall, the plot had potential ish but because of the nature of the spice and honestly I was getting bored with the constant shit about her so-called mates, so I’m not planning on reading anymore.

This author knows how to write addictive books. The plot is a little messy at times but I don't really read these books for the clever plots. Although, there is a good element of mystery in these.
It's a darker OV with some tense dubcon moments but Dusk is a sweetie really. He has his reasons, he's just not sharing them.
Shatter's relationship with Umbra needs little more development but I'm looking forward to that in the later books hopefully. I cannot wait for her to meet Ransom.

I Devoured this book in one sitting and immediately started book two! This Omegaverse was all consuming and I am still in a haze now that I've come up for air and am left waiting for part 3 to come out.
This book is DARK in all the best possible ways it takes place in college, there are forgotten memories to uncover, dark & princess bonds, secrets, cruel & unstable alphas, blackmail ughhh its just all-consuming and one of the best Omega series I have read.
Shatter is a Omega in hiding because she is gold pact and she is desperate to reveal herself and scent to her true Alpha scent matches, but before she can she is scooped up by another pack that she is desperate to get away from. Shatter is just a chaotic broken feral mess and you could just feel her desperation. Don't even get me started on the Aloof Kingsman pack! brutal, and unhinged and everything I love in my MMC's!
This is my first read by the author and I can't wait to read their backlist!
