I DNFed fast on this one. Havoc is one of my favorite books but I just can't behind this one with an MMC who blackmails the FMC into oral sex. I don't want a HEA with Dusk in it.

*Mackay brings the angst EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.*

Shattered Omega is completely threaded through with spicy angst and marks a turn into darker themes between the love interests (see the CW/TW in front of the book). While I am not usually a fan of the coercion tactics the pack employs to keep Shatter, more is revealed in their POVs to suggest deeper darkness is waiting for Shatter if she abandons them. Their weird/toxic honor system wouldn’t make sense outside of an omegaverse but in this book, works well. Like Shatter, I started off hating the pack, and then spent some time dealing with my confusion around ‘why don’t I hate these guys anymore?’ I am absolutely itching to get my hands on book two!!

The book ends on a cliffhanger… sort of. It feels like an unintentionally abrupt stop, right when things were getting to the best part.

Also, as an aside, I absolutely love the naming conventions employed in this series. You can rely on the names of the heroines to absolutely describe the way they interact with their packs and certain alphas are treated the same way. It lends an extra layer to the fated mates element present in the series (though maybe not in this book?)
