Soul Eater is one of those books that sinks its claws in. The world is bleak and horrifying, every new place Danny and Wyn pass through feels wrong. This world is eerie. The journey they go on, the characters they meet along the way, all of it is fascinating, but there’s always this undercurrent of dread running beneath the surface. And then, cutting through all of that darkness, is their connection, fierce, magnetic, impossible to ignore. Wyn and Danny love each other so beautifully. The attraction between them burns like fire. Every interaction is thick with tension, every step closer feels both dangerous and inevitable. I devoured this book in one sitting, completely consumed by the mix of horror and desire.
By the end I wasn’t just excited, I was begging for the next book in the series.

Edit: After a reread of this book, I really had to reflect on my original rating. 2 years later, and I still think about Danny and Wyn basically daily. My gripe about this one the first time I read it was about the pacing and how it felt slow. In actuality, there isn’t anything wrong with it imo. I read this very early on in my reading journey and was overly picky, and read slower than I do now. Straight up love this book. If a book lives rent free in your brain like this one does for me, then it’s no less than a 5 star read.
I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book. I surprisingly really enjoyed it. The aspect of a monster MM romance was intriguing but I can see how this wouldn’t be for everyone. The story here is really simple and easy to follow. You could probably skim read this and still get everything you need to out of it. What really made this book good to me was the characters. As mentioned the concept is pretty out there so i could see myself not liking things in this genre if it weren’t for the likeable characters. Danny and Wyn were both just so sweet to each other and I enjoyed the progression between their character. The only real reason this didn’t get higher than a 4 for me was that it started painfully slow and then all of the sudden we were getting spice in every other chapter. The spice is done really well and it’s very different from your traditional MM spicy. (Obviously since one of them is a monster)
I would recommend this to people looking to branch out and read different things or if the synopsis is interesting to you but honestly no hard feelings if you don’t like it or can’t get through it.

⭐⭐⭐
A little monster romance. What could go wrong?
I really enjoyed this and am going to devour the rest of this series.
