Beautiful writing but questionable execution of the main themes when looked through from the lens of 2025? Not sure.

Don't know if its me or the book but this was so boring. Maybe I'll come back to it at some point... that might be wishful thinking
This book was really . . . weird. Like as in, not cohesive weird. The main character loves a "forbidden" man, but denies it. Instead she becomes betrothed to another man, and then ends up breaking it off to be the one she loves. It's a classic story line, but it just was not well done and didn't seem to go together. Could have been a lot more.

Short and sweet. I liked the quirky charters. They were feminist, socialist, atheists. That was really refreshing in a novel from this time period. The audiobook was spot on, happy I read it this way.

Lucy Honeychurch certainly wasn’t expecting to find love during her holiday in Italy but love is exactly what she found. Unfortunately it exists in the most unlikely of characters and for these very reasons she flees. Luckily a respectable prospect appears and at first thought, Lucy is convinced that this is what she’s searched all her life for but of course it’s never that easy. People can change, be not what you expected and can influence you to become someone your not. Fortunately for Lucy she realizes that the view she’s always dreamed of is not outside the window but resides deep within.
This story itself encourages the reader to a bit of soul searching, as the tale takes you through Lucy’s journey. A slow read that thankfully picks up by the second part and the title doesn’t quite make sense til the very end. I really enjoyed this book, loved the plot and recommend this classic to anyone looking for a good read. I also have rented the movie and look forward to watching it!
