I had so much fun with this one! It was such a good retelling of Mean Girls, super entertaining, and with writing as witty and concise as Austen’s. I also loved the romance between Georgiana and Thomas! My only issues were that Georgiana’s conflict with her parents and the climax action felt a little undeveloped. 

As a side note, I listened to the audiobook read by Bessie Carter, who did an incredible job bringing the story to life.

After three hours in and a couple of times trying...
I couldn't connect to the main character Georgiana. She was annoying, superficial, and blah. She's the cliche bookworm who dreams of excitement and, I'm not like other girls. After having one night of fun, she decides that she won't try to befriend anyone else. It's Frances or nothing. Of course, Frances is a hot mess. Where is the romance or Bridgerton meets Gossip Girl part? I'm totally getting the Mean girls vibes but not the others. All we know about the love interest(or who I believe is) is he is not interested in Georgiana and likes to brush his horse. Dreamy. All of the characters are unnecessity mean or clueless. The narrator is great though the story, romance, characters are not there. 2/5

It's not clear if the pregnancy was miscarried or not it's really establishing this guy is a bad dude and doesn't love the girls he's with. A lot of bad parents in this book. One rich white dude marries a middle-class black woman and when the marriage is falling apart he blames her for not being a high lady. There's tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs at every party.

This book took a predictable plot structure and added many unpredictable details. It keeps a realistic tone and attitude from the characters throughout the novel, even when events take a slow and almost unnoticeable turn for the darker. So many regency era stories are polished and full of proper society. While this book is set within proper society, Croucher has done an excellent job telling a story about the seedy underbelly of that society while still having a fun narrative. I found myself having complicated feelings about the characters, which is always a sign of a great writer. The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars for me is that the plot was a bit predictable at times, but I think that comes with the genre territory.
