The sequel to Belladonna introduces another “entity” character, Fate, the brother of Death and he makes things fun as there isn’t a lot going on other than the whole Elijah Hawthorne convicted of murder plot line. All the while, the Death and Signa romance is still going strong, which I’m still not crazy about.

Things pick up at the halfway point when Signa is sent her bags packing by her beloved cousin, Blythe. Which is actually fantastic because 1) we actually get to see Signa return to her home, Foxglove (title of book) and 2) Blythe is given space to grow as her own character. Ending is solid and sets things nicely for Wysteria, which I can finally get to after being gifted as a Christmas present last year!

The story picks up right where Belladonna left off. I loved the angst and tension between Death, Sigma, Blythe and the main antagonist. The twist at the end was unexpected but I should have seen it coming.

Loved loved loved this book. Both Belladonna and Foxglove had the best vibes. The description of the architecture, the dresses, and the Gothic energy ate it up! Perfect perfect Autumn read!
Now for a sequel, I do think this was pretty good. However, I think it got bogged down a little bit in the middle with the mystery. Again, I like it, but I do think maybe the pacing could’ve been a little bit better. Specifically in the middle, I think it could’ve been cut down a tiny bit.
The plot however, was really good. I liked the twist in turns along the way and the last 50 pages were so good. I don’t think I could’ve guessed the ending of this book and it makes me want to pick up the third one immediately.
The characters as always are my favorite parts of books and this one delivered. Signs was good in this book. She was a good narrator, but something was missing from her this time. Death loved him, but Blythe and Fate, oh my God. I thought Blythe’s parts were gonna be my least favorite. I literally cannot wait for the third book from her perspective. I’m also hoping to get more Death and Signa as well. I think their love story is gonna be really good to read.
Now something I really enjoyed about this book was learning more about the magic system and just the lore behind Death and Fate. Signa learning more about her powers was interesting and I can’t wait for Blythe to learn about her powers more. I’m really digging the world and the supernatural parts. The parts with all of the supernatural details and the ghost kept me turning the pages!
Can’t wait for book three
Oh also beautiful covers and artwork.
