How can someone write a book with action scenes I have to reread several times to figure out what is going on. They are either confusing or just not really intense enough to hold my attention.

This series should be named after Kitty. She is the most interesting and you actually care about her.

I still hate the footnotes when it switches to Bartimaeus. It disrupts the flow of reading.

The ending felt rushed and wasn't satisfying.

I didn't think Stroud could improve the Bartemius story in the first book, but I was wrong. This is even better than the first.
Yes, you got more of the cocky teenager, now two years older who wants to be a wizard and fights hard to get what he dreams of. Yes, you even have more of the tongue-in-cheek demon, well, genius, who helps the kid gritting his teeth. But refreshingly, you get to see Kitty's point of view. How the resistance formed, how she became part of them and what is it that they want.
Villain is a bit more shadowy in this one, less evident than the first book, which is good. It's not overly complex but it's a nice story, refreshing read.

The Golem's Eye by Jonathan Stroud

I read this series of books when I was younger and was instantly hooked! I love the story of Nathaniel and the character of Bartimaeus is genius! I love the way that the chapters skip from Bartimaeus to Nathaniel and I love the added footnotes. I've found in some books, footnotes can be annoying but in this case they were an added joy! I recommend this series of book to people of all ages and I desperately want to read them again.

there is no other series like this, seriously. such a good exploration of questionable motivations and grey morality, while still being fun and an adventure and funny and intense and dark. SO GOOD SERIOUSLY

Waiting to read the whole series! Nice books!
