The miscommunication trope was so hard to push through, but the inner turmoil of Meena made it all worth it. The will they - won’t they, when you’re rooting for them had me on the edge of my seat! It was a bit slower paced than I usually like but I would still recommend this book to anyone!

Alright, it’s genuinely impressive I enjoyed this as much as I did given that a large part of their issues come down to lack of communication. Yes, it was frustrating, but I also felt like it was handled in a way that was believable, something I could actually see people doing in real life. Second chance romances always have the difficulty of making the break up believable, but not so heinous that you won’t root for them to get back together. I actually think Kumar handled that very well. Again, lots of not communicating, but I think given the start of their relationship, it felt authentic.
I really liked that these two had to grow and work out their own insecurities before making a real relationship work. They definitely should have down more talking toward the end, but there was always the passion there between them. At no point did I feel like they couldn’t make this work because you could feel how much they cared for each other. I really loved the moments when they were both brutally honest with each other and would have loved some expansion on those scenes.
Loved the setting and the hurricane element was original and led to some fun shenanigans and great moments of connection between the two leads. I also felt like Kumar balanced Meena’s prior relationship as not so important that it felt like Meena was cheating, but still important enough to have impact on her decisions. I didn’t see her ex as a terrible person, but also didn’t feel like he was better than the hero.
This also felt more steamy as opposed to spicy, lots of build up and technically open door, but I would have preferred more detail. There was so much passion outside the bedroom that I thought we’d see some real good stuff between the sheets, but alas 🙃
All in all though, I did have a delightful time with this!

I've never skimmed a book as much as I did this.
And I'm not even sure uf it was the book's fault or mine. If I'm not into the trope, and the genre anymore.
I just didn't find the romance any good. I'd started this book thinking it's by an Indian American author, but there was no essence of that here, nothing to indicate that except the characters' names.
I read the whole acknowledgement too, and I don't see what "reflections of what it means to live in texas made their way into the story"
I'm not going to enumerated the things I did or didn't like here. I'll just sum it up as - this felt all superficial.
