* I would give this book 3.5 stars for review*
I really loved this book. I thought this book was a fun take on royally themed novel. I also really liked how this book tackled BI characters and just found it to the perfect beach read. I also loved the setting of this read. I ALSO really liked the newspaper articles that was featured in this book and helped expand the world. I really loved the side characters featured in this book and also how this book connected to the characters in the first novel. This book just put a smile on my face and hope for more books in this series in the future.

This book was cute and fun and queer and sweet. A quick read that just makes you go awww <3
I spent $15 on something I could have found for free on Wattpad. I'm such a silly goose.

I enjoyed this more than I did with Prince Charming but there are still some underlying issues with Hawkins' writing. There is no character development or a description of the location. Even though these books are set in Scotland, it doesn't feel like it. For all I know, this could be happening in my backyard because that's how little effort into the setting there is.
If you're going to write about the royals of Scotland and a boarding school in the Highlands, then I want to feel like I am there. The common "green hills" and "so many rocks" [not a real quote, I'm just failing at being sassy] doesn't do it anymore.
Next, it felt very unfinished to me. The pacing was very off and it didn't linger in interesting moments like The Challenge or their getaways. Everything ends in one chapter and I just want more from the scenes and the characters. I like Millie and Flora but I will likely forget about them since there was barely anything to them, or it was superficial information.
They didn't seem enemies to me, they became on good terms far too quickly (and easily) and the same goes to how they get together and their dating. Their fight near the end was ridiculous, I couldn't take it seriously. It made no sense to me and it didn't seem convincing.
Additionally, Millie always referring to her brown hair and brown eyes as boring took years out of me. Can we please leave this type of characterization in 2005? We don't need more Bella Swans.
I love the fact this is a queer love story but I just wanted more. There was no essence to the story which is a real shame. Had the writing been better, this could have easily been a five star read for me.
It's not a bad book per se, just very unfinished.

Spoiler
Millie starts a fight just because Flora lied about the way she broke up with her ex. There are many valid reasons to pick a fight, but that isn't one of them. And Flora just blurting that she paid for Millie's tuition came out of nowhere and then it was forgotten. The fight really came out of nowhere since the girls were on good terms and happy with each other. Also, we had no real conversation or heart to heart between Flora and her family. So many missed opportunities.Additionally, Millie always referring to her brown hair and brown eyes as boring took years out of me. Can we please leave this type of characterization in 2005? We don't need more Bella Swans.

This is the exact sweet teen gay princess love story I want to be reading every day of my life. Just wish it was longer!
gave me similar vibes to rwrb, very cute but ultimately the plot felt fairly rushed, especially at the end. always good to see some cute wlw relationships though.
