This is a stunning book that reimagines poems stunning images, each with the poems particular tone for the author. This work is incredibly touching and at times painful. It brings new brilliant light onto these amazing works. I would read twenty more like it.

Interesting idea, to interpret famous poems in a comic-book-panel kind of visual format. The artist, Julian Peters, is adept in a wide variety of art styles, which makes reading through the book unpredictable and fun (though most of the artwork has a somewhat sketchy, unfinished look). For some of the selections, the artwork helped bring the poem to life in a new way; for a few of them, the comic-panel style actually made the poem harder to read. But even with the ones that I liked, I almost hated to look at them for too long, lest that imagery become the imagery I associate with a poem that might look many other different ways. It felt a little wrong to turn a poem into visual art with very little ambiguity.

I loved this graphic novel for the sheer fact that it took such beautiful poems and put them to comic—all with very different artwork and interpretations.

Beautiful!  The ONLY caveat I have is that I would prefer to have the full poem printed as nearly as possible to the way it was originally published, before seeing the poem presented alongside the interpretive art.  But that is trifling.  This is an incredibly beautiful and moving presentation of deservedly famous poems.  Well done!

Beautiful adaptations! Lots of different styles of art. Didn't care for the chosen poems.

Thank you netgalley for the chance to review. Poems to see by is a collection of classical poems basically into a graphic novel or comic book. I did really enjoy this book. The illustrations were gorgeous and I felt they went well with the poems. I would recommend to a friend who enjoys graphic novels or poetry.

I love the idea of this book, poems being illustrated. However, this particular collection of poems wasn’t right for me (there were only a few I liked). I would love to see this concept done with a more diverse collection of poems/poets! I did enjoy the variety of art, especially on the few poems that I was a fan of.

I loved this and I knew I would. Poems and comics, what a great marriage. The artists explains in the prologue how the too art forms are very similar.
