Dneska už si Vánoce bez této klasiky ani neumím představit. Kniha rozhodně stojí za přečtení. Čte se rychle a je velmi krátká a zaručeně vás naladí do vánoční nálady.
The black and white classic, but it made some people happier
One of my favorite stories ever. I love reading this at Christmas & seeing how Scrooge changes. There are a lot of Scrooges in the world-- but here's the thing. It's what YOU do about it. Dickens weaves a tale that is so beautiful but with hardships and real life. (I also watched the muppets A Christmas Carol and it's hilarious)
Merry Christmas & on that high (as Tiny Tim said) note, I will leave you. And God bless us, everyone!

Marley was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Scrooge signed it. And Scrooge’s name was good upon ‘Change for anything he chose to put his hand to. Old Marley was as dead as a doornail.
It is very obvious to say that this story is ingrained into the mind of countless people. Adapted many times into stage and screen (The Muppets Christmas Carol is my personal favorite). While many of them are good adaptations, there is something missed from the page to the screen. Dickens has a sort of profound understanding of Scrooge as a character that is left behind. On screen and stage, Scrooge is always a bitter, angry man and while this is true of his place in the book, Dickens has a clear sense of empathy for him. The narrator understands that he needs to change, but empathizes with him through the process. For a tale about humanity, Dickens original text is still more human than any adaptation that came from it. Beautiful, even more so than I thought it would be.
“It is a fair, even-handed, noble adjustment of things, that while there is infection in disease and sorrow, there is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.”

انیمیشنی که دیزنی ازین داستان ساخته رو پیشنهاد میکنم، کاملا به داستان وفاداره و خوشساخت هم هست.
