I think my favorite thing about Dust of My Wings and the lore behind Shade is what an angel is. They aren't creatures sent by god, they aren't inherently good - they are supernatural creatures that have a bit of a reputation. It was quite refreshing to see them this way, and I really loved their society and the descriptions of their home.

Shade is in trouble, though. He's left some angel dust laying around and a human had her hands on it now. The council is breathing down his neck telling him to fix it - by whatever means necessary. And he really hopes it doesn't get that far, especially one he meets the little neat freak, Lily.

Lily was amazing - I loved all her little habits. And - well, not to give too much away, but when her paranormal side comes out - it's perfect, 100% perfect! It was a brilliant touch that really went far with me.

My biggest problem with the story was in the side details. Some of them just didn't quite get explained enough for me, or they just weren't flushed out to the point that they really made a lot of sense. There were a couple details that seemed a bit out of place - I'm hoping they come into play later. There was also a missing spark between Shade and Lily. For destined mates, they just didn't seem to click with me.

Some many times I was like, "Who says that?" Did the author break open a thesaurus and decide to use it for every word over 5 letters?

This was a very enjoyable read. I really enjoyed the characters and the way that the story flowed. I was interested from the beginning but not quite sucked in right away. This is a different world that has been created and it's different that I've read before. I loved Lily and Shade. They are great characters and they have some awesome friends. I'm very excited to get to read more about those friends in the next books. I thought the take on the supernatural was cool. The sex is fairly explicit and I liked the way that the relationship was built between the two of them. Lily is a little shy and lonely but she doesn't let Shade walk all over her or just get away with things. I very much appreciated this. I liked getting to see her come into her own and grow. Shade had to grow a little as well. He had to figure out how to make this relationship work. I'm definitely looking forward to the next in the series and I've already got it. :)

MC apparently has OCD but it's the sanitised pop culture version where things have to be neat and clean. Would potentially have been an interesting story if it showed someone truly experiencing OCD with intrusive thoughts and rituals and the OCD actually having a damn negative impact rather than just being "quirky" but given the standard of writing honestly glad the author didn't try this.

Dante's Circle Book One.

When Shade is summoned to before the Elders of his angelic race to clean up the dust his wings shed, he is sent to a human woman working at a lab. He falls for her almost immediately. Later that night, a freak lightning strike hits Lily and her friends in the bar Dante's Circle. After being together, Lily and Shade discover she is actually a supernatural creature, too. Now they must find out how to survive with another angel on the warpath.

Audio Review:
Gregory Salinas narrates with an enthusiastic dramatization that can be a bit over-the-top at times. He uses a breathy voice for most of the book, even in everyday scenes without a hint of romance. If you enjoy the drama, this will be a great narration.

If you're looking for a new supernatural series with non-religious angels, dragons and other supernaturals this is the book for you!

New Adult Paranormal Romance Suspense
Very disappointing. Highly repetitive. Slow moving with very little action.
The concept and the main characters have a lot of potential. But it all falls flat. I am really sorry to say this because I really wanted to like this story. In truth, it barely hits New Adult level. It seems more like a Young Adult book that was revised to be New Adult or Adult at the last minute. And have I mentioned the repetition! Every time I started to get interested I was hit with repetition or a maturity level that was aggravating.
If this was my only connection to Carrie Ann Ryan's writing I would probably never read another of her books. This is the only book in this series I have read. I checked the rating for the other books in this series and they seem high, but now I am leary......
I have read a couple of her other books years ago. I remember liking them, but I can't find them on my kindle. Which means I probably read her in an anthology. I have some of her other books and will read them soonish, but I am in no hurry to continue this series.

Really interesting concept/storyline; the characters were really relatable and well written. Steamy scenes were good. I can’t wait to see where this series takes me!

I didn't like the writing and didn't understand the plot. Dust? Why not steal it back?
