This one was the best in the series for sure. Of course Jane is still a major pushover and does way too many tasks that don’t bring her joy, but I really think that’s just the character. I mean people like that obviously exist, I just don’t relate to her at all.

The mystery was much better in this book than in the previous two and although I thought I had it predicted I was actually surprised at part of the reveal. I did think there were too many different moving parts between all the chamber of commerce stuff, the nephew, the creepy child, the family drama, and the high school reunion. Some parts felt a bit unresolved to me

I really like how Jenny and Jane had a fight then were able to really talk out all their problems :) It was a big step for both of them and it really helped their relationship.

Love these so much. While they can be read as stand-alone novels, please read in order. The author gives you spoilers for all the previous books every single time. :(

All of Molly Harper's books just leave me with a smile on my face....
Love all the characters in this series.... Jane is awesome and I love her relationships with all her friends Andrea, Dick, Zeb, and Janene.... liked the fact that her family came around in this book especially mom and sister.... some of the best parts of these books were when Jane was at The chamber of commerce meetings with all the Courtneys..... The only part of these books that I struggle with a little bit is the relationship between Jane and Gabriel, I just still am not sure about him, maybe I can be convinced by the end of the next book, I believe that is the last in the series....
Lastly I have to acknowledge the fact that Molly harper has a fabulous narrator narrating almost all of her books on audio, I can't imagine the voice of her characters being read by anybody else...

Another funny installment in this series! All of the characters just keep getting better and the main mystery/danger of this book was something I didn't expect.

I'm glad that Jane is re-connecting with her family and the whole drama with Gabriel wraps up in the second half. I would probably never be able to date someone who couldn't trust me but she does demand future trust so hopefully that happens for her. I was however proud she didn't spend too much time moping over him.

I really love reading about the bookstore and how it is doing, yes I'm a dork but I hope we hear more in the next book.

I have to admit I'm not sure why marriage is such a priority for these characters especially the immortal ones but then again I never had her mama breathing down my neck.

My favorite thing about this book was the audiobook narration by Amanda Ronconi (she also does the remainder of Molly Harper's books and it's the only way I'll read MH's books). Her telling just makes these books all that they can be. And all they should be.
I really like the world that Jane and her friends live in within this series. The supporting staff of vamps, werewolves, ghosts and humans are such an eclectic and great mix that they are really the driving force for me continuing with the series.
Having said the above, I still continue to have problems with Jane, our heroine. These are the same problems I had with her from book one and I’m a little frustrated that they are still heavily present into book 3. She's fierce, sassy and snarky, traits I thoroughly enjoy in my leading ladies, but when it comes to herself and how people treat her, she's a clams up and becomes an almost doormat. I don't know if it's a southern thing that my yankee brain doesn't quite understand, but she doesn't stand up for herself, to her family or Gabriel. I wanted to reach into this book (as well as all the books in the series) and shake or slap upside the head many of her family members and Jane, herself.
And Gabriel? While I love a sexy vamp like any girl, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that his days of hiding and withholding are behind him. I didn't like him much in this book because of it as I don't feel the things he was hiding and withholding warranted the hurt he caused Jane by his actions.
Overall, Molly Harper has sucked me into Jane’s world and while the hero and heroine are not perfect, I still care enough about them to hope that the next book gives them both a swift kick in the rump for me to love them as much as I do their supporting cast.

I got frustrated with the relationship conflict here but I just enjoy Molly Harper. The narrator's male voices annoy me but eh.

Wasn't bad, but not as funny or interesting as I was hoping.

The pacing was much better than the last book, wrapping up what felt like a solid trilogy of books. The humor was still spot-on, almost every character grew in meaningful ways, and so many loose ends were tied up satisfyingly. This book was good enough that I tore through it in about a day.
emotional lighthearted mysterious fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

This is my favorite in the series so far. A great mystery that I didn't figure out ahead of time, family drama that ends up not so bad, lots and lots of changed to Jane's friend group. As Jane and Gabriel struggle in their relationship, lots is going on in her life, including a not so welcome blast from Gabriel's past. I really enjoy how the characters have to work for things in this series. The interactions and relationships feel very real, because none of them are perfect. But in the end they have (mostly) adult conversations and figure things out - after someone almost dies of course.
