Thank you Stephanie for the ARC!!
This book was really cute but very repetitive. It felt like a typical 2006 rom-com which I absolutely love to watch but reading it dragged a bit. I did enjoy the characters and the unique atmosphere, but the conflicts (aside from the people bullying her about her uncle) felt a bit lame/low stakes.

Thank you to NetGalley and Stephanie Scott for providing a copy of the book for me to read in exchange for my honest opinion.

Synopsis: Maisie Maxwell planned for a senior year of dazzling college scouts by playing her best tennis. Instead, her beloved tennis training academy is thrown into scandal—the academy founder and head coach, who happens to be her uncle—took off to Tahiti with the school’s tuition money. Only her aim to lay low is thwarted by the school’s new partnership with reality show The Academy, their last ditch hope to stay open.

My Thoughts: The chapters were pretty short. The story is narrated by Maisie Maxwell, from her perspective. The characters are witty, complex, emotional, and described so well, you feel like you are there with Maisie, fighting with her to save the school and cursing the uncle that betrayed her. The author’s writing style was creative, inventive, romantic, and intriguing. The writing just flowed and worked well for this book. Previously, I had not read anything from this author, I will be now. I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend this book.

It's such a fun and cute read. I was hooked from the beginning. The plot is super fun and so interesting, I enjoyed it so much. It's swoon worthy. The drama in it is chef's kiss

This book provided a really interesting take on the pressure of teen athletes and the pressure of reality television. I love very little more than a book about a reality show, and this book provided a different take on the reality show trope (is it a trope? can we call it that?) but I kind of liked the direction it took with it.
I assumed that because “love” was in the title, that the love story would be a bit more central to the plot (now I’m wondering if it’s the tennis term, which…clever), but it was a fairly small part of the story, but it was cute AF. Maisie and Shane are adorable and I loved that they were there to support each other through the bad and to cheer each other on during the good. I honestly could’ve used more of them and less of the cray-cray reality show, but I get it…drama. Regardless, this was a quick and easy read, and it was pretty fun too.

I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours. All opinions are my own.

I feel so bad giving this two stars. If I was 16 when I read this, it would at least be a three, but alas. When I dip into the books-set-in-high-school waters, I know I'm gambling with depth (pun intended). And this book? It just had none. The whole plot and premises that goes with a disgraced tennis academy with a reality show brought in to revive its image (how many stories am I going to read with the reality show plot point?) was promising. I just don't think this delivers in the way that I, a full grown adult, need it to.

And maybe, just maybe, that's what I get for reading an otherwise cute, sweet story clearly written as romcom for preteens.
