I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!
liked the art but thought the story was underwhelming for a title that's been on so many end-of-year lists
fast-paced

The hypnotic artwork alone is worth 4 stars but the story definitely feels full of pondering warmth.
Death has been fired due to immortality for all mortals to come in the near future so downsizing needs to happen. Death comes in possession of Laila Starr and she tries to see how she can get her job back but learns of mortal life and what death really means.
This gave me something of "Russian Doll" vibes but with more of a mystical feel.
i whispered to the sea
what lies beyond the edge?
in gente waves she said to me
love and mistakes and heartbreak and victories
i thought i had put all that behind me.

omg I was not expecting this would make me cry!
Probably the best writing I've read in a comic/graphic type thing and the art was great too.

It’s a story that makes us think. Death is something certain for all of us, but how we live our lives and the marks we leave on others are what will matter in the end. This comic does a great job of exploring both ideas, making us literally reflect on life and reminding us not to lose sight of living to the fullest.
I really enjoyed the art style and the coloring; however, I felt that the story was stronger in the initial chapters and gradually lost some of its impact. Additionally, there wasn’t much character development to allow us to truly connect with them.

Death is told that she is being downsized, because humanity is about to discover the secret of immortality. So instead, Death will live as a mortal on Earth. She decides that she will spend her time trying to stop the creator of immortality. But Death will discover that it’s not as easy to kill when one is mortal themself, and will discover that life is a part of death, as death is a part of life.
This was an interesting graphic novel that explores life and death, and how death affects our lives. I really loved the art and loved the ideas explored, but I wish the stories went into a little more depth. I felt they were just skimming the surface of dealing with death and grief, and how that affects people’s lives. But still really good.
