This quickly became my favorite book of the year, nearly from the first chapter. I'm obsessed with this series and have read the first three books in 3 days. I can't get enough, and I know I'll re-read them for years to come.

I found a Kingdom of Flesh and Fire quite slow and thought that at least a third of it could be cut. It was very dialogue heavy and didn’t have a lot in terms of plot.

However, that being said, I understand that Poppy needed space and time to overcome significant trauma and was happy with her personal growth by the end of the book.

Cas remains one of my favourite MMCs of all time.

That ending… I was NOT prepared for that. “Bow before your new queen” WHAT?!

I loved this book! I specifically like how there is an even mix of romance, action, and just well-rounded plot. Specifically, I like that Poppy has remained strong and independent throughout the series so far, despite falling in love with Casteel. I love that Casteel embraces her need to protect and defend herself.

My only caveat (and this could just be me) is that there is a lot of story/world building and it can be a bit overwhelming trying to keep track of all the info and details. However, the author does a great job of keeping the reader reminded.

I’m excited for book #3!
