I wanted to not finish this so bad. There was literally no point to this entire book and the fact that it took as long as it did to get finished with the pointlessness of it was ridiculous.
This came highly recommended by numerous online book groups, and I thought, "Why not? Let's dive into the world of glitz, glam, and a touch of spice."
As I listen, I found myself on a literary rollercoaster that was more like a gentle merry-go-round.

The story follows Brooklyn who is on a mission to carve out her own path in life. She's independent, determined, and, well, a bit predictable. Enter Mr. Playboy, Macon, a charming lad from a fabulously wealthy family. Their worlds collide, and much like peanut butter and jelly, they just sort of... stick together.
The plot weaves their lives together in a tale that's as intricate as a doily your grandma might crochet – pretty to look at but not particularly groundbreaking.
Mann certainly knows how to spice things up when it counts. The book has some great spicy scenes that could make a pot of chili blush. It's in these moments where the story really sizzles, serving up just the right amount of heat to keep you listening.
This was an okay read. Not quite the page-turner I'd hoped for, but not a total miss either. It's the kind of book that's perfect for a lazy afternoon when you're in the mood for something light and effortlessly enjoyable, with just enough spice to keep things interesting. If you're looking for a tale of love, independence, and a touch of opulence, this might just be the book for you. Just don't expect it to rock your literary world – it's more of a gentle nudge.

Just wasn’t into it. Macon and Brooklyn. He falls first. He’s a playboy sweating off relationships, she wants to focus on her degree and finding a career. She’s a housekeeper/finishing her business degree , hes a billionaire. She lives in Hawaii, he’s building a hotel there. A lot of sex! His company hires her, no big issues. Just not in the mood for it.
Handsome billionaire playboy Macon sees Brooklyn dancing alone in a club while he’s staying in Hawaii overseeing the new Spade Hotel and is instantly enthralled. Their story starts as a one night stand, no names and no numbers, but evolves into a great love story with endless support and joy for each other and their accomplishments.
I really enjoyed this one. I was grabbed by the story from the beginning and it never lost its hold on me. I love that Macon knew Brooklyn wanted to succeed on her own and gave her the space to do so while also giving her amazing opportunities to support her achievements. I really enjoyed Macon’s character growth and how well these two complimented each other.
This is the first of a spin off series, however it’s the first I’ve read from the author. It’s definitely not required to read the other series first as long as you’re okay with minor spoilers.

How can I be honest without being mean. I am not sure what made this a booktok sensation to be honest. The romance is more what you would expect from a novella but its still over 300 pages. It moved at a weird pace for me. It starts off with the one night stand, but we also get a lot of information dump about characters who aren't even relevant to the story. We move on a bit but nothing seems to happen at all until they meet up again. I in no way enjoyed Macon's character because he went from this playboy character to suddenly the perfect boyfriend out of nowhere. It didn't work for me because there was no development. It was also just impossible to enjoy a book when the characters felt so surface level. The whole thing was a bit disappointing to be honest.
Macon has been a playboy, only having one night stands for the past seven years. At a club one night he sees Brooklyn and all that changes. He wants to talk with her and get to know her more. Brooklyn has a lot going on in her life, along with her keeping a secret from Macon. Macon also has a secret of his own.
I absolutely loved this book! It was so spicy! Marni Mann does not disappoint with the spice! I loved the banter with these two! I loved seeing Macon change his playboy ways! When he becomes a man obsessed…. Ooooh so swoon! Their chemistry was off the charts and even though Brooklyn tried to resist him, she couldn’t help but give in. It was nice to see Brooklyn open up to Macon over time. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for the rest of the series!

Couldn’t get into it. Didn’t like the writing style.
