I don’t know how many time I’ve said this, I love Marni’s books. Each book I read, I fall in love with the characters. Some of her books make me cry my heart out, others are just pure romance and all love. Macon and Brooklyn are pure love, from beginning to end. Kept me hooked on to their romance and always waiting for the outcome of the story. Macon was a true playboy, never thinking of settling down or dating, Until he found her, Brooklyn. And of course, always nice to “see” the Daltons and the rest of the family.
PUB DAY REVIEW
The Playboy by Marni Mann
Pub Date - 12/28/2023
This is the first book in the Spade Hotel series and wow did it start out with a bang! It was such a fun read with sizzling chemistry. Also the spice was spicing in this one. But I have come to learn that any book Marni writes will have some of the best spicy scenes!
Macon is your typical playboy billionaire, working to build the Spade Hotel. He honestly just oozes sex appeal and just ugh. Loved him. I loved Brooklyn. She was such a fun, smart, and determined woman. She had her eyes set on the end goal with no intentions of any interruptions. But after a one night stand that all changes. Macon wants her. She is all he can think about and really Brooklyn is not super interested. What will it take for him to sweep her off her feet.
This was honesty a really quick and fun read. This was the epitome of opposite attract and leave you thinking are they really meant to be. But I absolutely adored them together and watching them over come their feelings and secrets in a mature way. This was a great start to a new series by Marni! I cannot wait for the next one!

The Playboy
Spade Hotel, #1
by Marni Mann
Macon is a self proclaimed playboy who has zero desire to settle down until he spots Brooklyn across a crowded club. He is captivated by her from the first moment he saw her dancing. After one night of passion he could not get her out of his mind. I love how his switch was completely flipped when he met her. He was relentless trying to win her over. Stalker level obsessed. Very swoon worthy.
Brooklyn’s describes her life as muddy. She is solely focused on school and work. She doesn’t want or have time for any more commitments, especially with a man like Macon who is her complete opposite in every way. Of course she can’t stay away from him. I loved her strength and focus as she balanced her life. Her bond with her sisters was beautiful.
This pair is ridiculously hot together. I love how he put sooo much focus on her pleasure and she is greedy for more. Marni writes the best book-boyfriends.
This is the first book in the Spade Hotel series. There is lots of character crossover from the Dalton Brother series which I always enjoy

4.5⭐️! For some reason I had crazy anxiety reading this that the other shoe was going to drop, but luckily the conflict was quickly resolved and Macon was DOWN BAD for Brooklyn. My first book by this author and I’ll definitely check out more!

The book was meh. Not a great story line, conflict was dumb and the character development was little.
I probably should have read this instead of listening to it. I think the narrators killed this book for me. This book is a spice with plot type book. Enjoyable...but I highly suggest you do not listen to it. Read it.

good romance, but with a lot of suspension of disbelief
This book reminds me of a lot of the author’s other books. They are entertaining, super sexy, and generally good reads. The problem is that some of her books, like this one, are so incredibly crazy sauce, that it’s hard to not roll your eyes at what’s happening. How is it that a woman who hasn’t even graduated from college is so awesome and amazing beyond any other experts in the field that a huge hotel chain would want to hire her because she’s the only one who can possibly help them? It was crazy, and I found myself rolling my eyes multiple times. Overall, if you can suspend your disbelief, the book is hits all the right romance notes.
