The Playboy

This book follows the youngest spade brother who says he will never fall in love but once he gets a glimpse of Brooklyn, all he wants is here. I have read some of Mann’s books before. This is a billionaire romance series which follows a different sibling. I have to say for the most part I really enjoyed the book. I loved the Hawaii setting and the characters. However, I wouldn’t call the story unique. It’s one that I have read many times before. I would have enjoyed it a bit more if there were more conflicts. It’s a very calm billionaire romance with not much drama. This book follows Brooklyn and Macon.

Brooklyn is in college who is economically struggling. She needs money to graduate on time and hopefully get out of town. I really enjoyed her character and how strong willed she is. She doesn’t give up. Then we have Macon who is a billionaire and will do anything for Brooklyn. He cares for her and I love it. There are a few side characters but none who truly captured my attendion. The romance is age gap, billionaire romance, one night stand and opposites attract. Theres a lot of steam throughout this book. I wish they focused more on their chemistry because there was so much miscommunication.

The ending was good and I liked where they ended up. I would say it’s not my favorite marni mann but I am excited to read the next book. The other ones have different tropes which I know I will enjoy. I still recommend starting with this book for the series you you won’t be lost.

This book just wasn't for me.

It was immediately evident that many of the characters have likely had their story told in a previous book. Maybe part of a different series set in the same world. I always find it annoying when this happens, as I prefer to read in order.

Macon, our mmc, had his heart broke 7 years ago and pledged to be a playboy after that. While the title is mentioned many times throughout the beginning of the book, he's far from a smooth talking playboy throughout the book.  In fact, the banter with fmc Brooklyn at the beginning is cringe worthy.

After what was supposed to be a one night stand, neither Macorn nor Brooklyn can stop thinking about the other. Unfortunately, I just never felt the chemistry between them.

I really didn't like Macon and that made the book difficult to read. Brooklyn wasn't unlikable, I just found her uninteresting.

Not liking either character makes it difficult to continue reading. I managed to finish but I again, I couldn't really get into the book.

Brooklyn & Macon

My man is down bad for her!!!

Didn’t expect that when I started this series.    Macon said after his last long-term relationship that he wasn’t going to ever fall in love again; he was just going to be a playboy.  I believe for a while he meant that goal of his until he saw her dancing, and then he just wanted one night with her until he got it.   Brooklyn was working and putting herself through school; she wasn’t looking to find anyone, especially anything serious. She has goals and she wants to achieve them all.  She agreed to one night, not telling him her name or anything about her.  She had no clue who he was either.    I believe they made each other better by sharing their real selves.   This is the first book I’ve read of Marni Mann.  Can’t wait to go back and read the previous ones.
