Another lovely installment in the series.

Sweet romance... never mind the instalove with ARR. Calvin & Anna were wonderful. Loved the little drop-ins from our previous couples. Loved Bane too. Dogs really do rule.

Nice add-in of the side murders too.

But... couple of things... the couple on the beach, there should've been some sort of comeuppance for them... and also for the awful awful awful gutter-press reporter. Nasty nasty piece of work.

Hooking Him is the 3rd book in the How to Catch an Alpha series by author Aurora Rose Reynolds. I'm not a new reader to Ms Reynolds works, although I have yet to read this series. I was apprehensive if I was able to just jump into the book without reading the prior books. I was glad that I didn't have any problem at all reading this book.

This is a fun and quick read, Ms Reynolds writes really good characters and I really like both Anna and Calvin. There were actually first introduced in the earlier books, but as I said, I didn't have problems picking up the story. Though this book was a fun and flirty read, it does have some suspense. I enjoyed the book, the characters were well fleshed out and the world building was great. If you haven't check this book out, make sure you give it a read.

This book was gifted to me by NetGalley, however the views above are all my own.

Hooking Him, book 3 and final book to the How to Catch an Alpha series was just as good as the first two. You really can not go wrong with any of this author’s books. I am constantly falling in love with all the characters and in this one, it is no different. Anna McAlister had left her life, family, friends and even her fiance behind in Chicago after realizing she did not like where her life was heading. She is now living a simpler life in a small town, working at a bakery and finally has her heading in the right direction. She has some hilarious neighbors that make her life fun and interesting. But one thing she is not interested in and not quite ready, is being in a relationship. Unfortunately for her the local police detective, Calvin Miller, has set his eyes on her. What ensues is a fun and sexy dance between two people who are made for each other. Add in a little bit of murder and suspense and pesky past relationships made their journey so much more enjoyable and satisfying when they reached their happily ever after.

When you sink into this bad boy you sink into it. I enjoyed this alot with some steam.

Anna is strong woman who finally had enough and wanted to be happy and not a pawn of money and fake love. So she dropped her fiance and family to move to a quite town and finally started living the life she wanted to meeting some fun friends old and young and with those friends she meets Hot detective Calvin who already is under her skin for their first meeting. And boy that second meeting was funny and sparks flew!! I enjoyed their relationship i did wish we saw more date nights and stuff it did annoy me that Calvin job kept calling him. I understood since well cop. But I did get annoyed of that. On top of that we had a murder and well Anna's drama. So yeah pretty decent read and with good characters.

Tiny om drama and no ow drama (incase you count the murder), no cheating, sexy times, drama, slight secondary charas, no virgins

Recommend- yes/maybe

Aurora Rose Reynolds does it again! She has created a magic formula with her Alpha Heroes and the sassy fierce heroines, you can’t help but fall in love.

This book is a standalone novel in a series of standalones (I know confusing but limited cross over and can be completely read on its own). The story is told mostly from Anna’s POV but we do get a couple chapters from Calvin’s. I thought the flow and pace of the story worked well. The pace of the story flowed well even this this was a slower burn coming to love relationship.
The story follows Anna and Calvin. Anna works in the same bakery as Chrissie (heroine in book 2). Anna left her life in Chicago to find her happiness. Calvin is a Detective for the local police department and has had his heart broken in the past. Neither of these characters were open to finding love. Anna and Calvin both have experienced heartache and have some trust issues to overcome before they can be all in together. This story is the perfect amount of romance and drama/suspense to make a good read.

Hooking Him was a fast fun and flirty read. I loved the added element of suspense and mystery to this story. This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat, trying to figure out the who. But it also filled with funny laugh out loud moments. I loved the quirky old ladies in this story. They added so much to the book.
AAR has a magical way she writes her alpha heroes. If you alike a strong sexy man and a female lead who is equally as strong, I would highly suggest these stories. This was a 4/5 read for me. They are not overly long and detailed books. Spending a couple hours by the pool this summer, this is the perfect light and funny read.

Anna moves from Chicago in order to escape a life that was stifling her. She's happy in her new, life and enjoying that she is finally able to do things on her own terms instead of living her life to make her parents happy.

Calvin is an attraction that she is not expecting. He's a detective, he knows what he wants, and what he wants is Anna.

I liked that Calvin was all in to the idea of dating Anna pretty much immediately. I also liked that this was not insta-love. He didn't think she was going to be the woman he would marry from their first meeting, but his determination to get to know her never wavered.

There was something really appealing about that. And, while there is some external angst, this was really more a story about the 2 of them working out their relationship and seeing where it would go.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

bookboyfriendsdoitbetter.com (added a small spoiler section that isn't really a spoiler, just my favorite quote at the end of my review on my blog!)

In ARR's most recent books, this has the most suspense and mystery --makes sense since Calvin is a detective-- and I really really enjoyed that! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time trying to guess who it was! ( I did guess who it was early on but I still enjoyed this side plot and as I've said before, it doesn't bother me when I guess correctly)

"'I think I love you,' I say, then cover my face and groan. 'I mean that in the friendliest way possible.'"

The banter between Calvin and Anna is everything! Compared to ARR's usual insta-love, this is very slow --for her-- and I really was not expecting that. I really enjoyed the time the connection between Anna and Calvin took. Neither of them was looking to find someone but they found each other and I can't even with the feels. I always read books about how the love interests makes the other person laugh even when really deep emotional stuff --and other stuff *wink wink* -- is happening; this book is that feeling. The characters made me laugh even when things weren't great for them and I want to reread immediately.

"'How did you become friends with the Golden Girls?'"

The side characters were hilarious and I want my own Edie, Dixie, and Pearl! I love how the book started with them and it had me laughing whenever they showed up. We do see the couples from the previous two books but unlike some of her other series, they do not show up that much. I found this refreshing because, while yeah, you might become friends with your friend's friends (how many times can I say friends), it doesn't mean that you'll be best friends with all of them.

Aurora Rose Reynolds was the first-ever romance author I ever read and followed --her books, not her personally lol. Her books are always a great pick-me-up and never disappoint! She doesn't release her books as quickly as other authors I love so I always make sure to savor her books.

Hooking Him was no different, I loved it! And once you know the meaning of the title it is so cute and adorable!!
