I will admit that I've read most of the rest of this series before reading this one for some reason. We're introduced to John and David, the principals of Alden Security, before they were together. They are both in the Army during the days of DADT and John rescues David and his team during a mission. The two men are drawn to one another, but DADT keeps them from being fully transparent. But that doesn't stop John from reflexively asking David to become his roommate. As the months and years go on, they come out to one another and pursue their relationship. It's a nice read following a couple through life changes and setting up the rest of the series.
DNF
This premise had potential, but the prose quality is uneven, there is too much over-explaining of feelings when, alas, there was zero chemistry in the 13% I read. There could have been, but the writer didn't provide it. I'm not sure what the five star people were reading, but it wasn't this one's opening chapters. I have no faith anything will improve.

John and David are so sweet. I loved how their relationship progressed until they bought their building to make Alden Security. A truly wonderful read.
