tarted off not vibing with Mia… ended up kinda rooting for her 👀 Character development? 10/10. Plot? Meh, saw most of it coming from a mile away. Enjoyed the read, just didn’t fall in love with it. A lil predictable, a lil slow, but still a decent time

I know a lot of readers are saying this is a rip off of The Fault in Our Stars but I actually enjoyed this book much more. This book made me cry; I thought it was so wonderful.

No he podido parar.
(No, no he leído Bajo la misma estrella...).

3.5 It was easy to read and tugged at the heartstrings a bit. It was well-worth reading, just not amazing or something I'd read again.

I guess this is sick-lit. Less schmaltzy than John Green with two very distinct voices, the author's time working in hospitals carries across clearly.

I liked the book and the ideas they had going, but I wish it would have ended differently :(

So many long, bad, predictable descriptions. The whole book was just ANGST ANGST ANGST.

Not my style, but I probably would have liked it when I was much younger. If I was still full of feelings and even cliches were a novelty I would have thought this book was brilliant.

This book was super amazing!
It totally got me out of my reading slump, and it was just so good.
It wasn't necessarily the best book ever, but it had so many amazing qualities.
Firstly, the way she wrote the two character's perspective was really good, as they were both distinct voices. I enjoyed reading from both perspectives, even though I didn't want to solely focus on Mia in the last part until I read it! Mia was quite different, and was sometimes quite stressful as she was full-on and occasionally selfish. However, in the end, I really like her perspective and I was glad it was a dual perspective story, as it made me enjoy Mia as a character a whole lot more.
Secondly, I really enjoyed the unique twist on the storyline. "Two kids with cancer, it seems like TFIOS" but in the end, it was super original and different. It was less about needing each other to help distract the other person, and more about needing the other person to cope. It was less about romance and the horrible reality of the cancer, and more about their friendship and bond.
Lastly, the writing style was beautiful. A.J. Betts come to my school the other day to talk to my class about her novel, and after hearing many good things online, I decided that this was the time to pick it up. She was hilarious about literally everything she said, and was also so chilled and friendly. I had a talk with her after, and she signed the book that I read from...even though it was a school copy :(
overall, amazing book
also, Zac owns alpacas and so do i! and i also live in perth, so it was basically a representation of me but with no cancer and no love :(
